Casa Julfa x Alisha Sofia
2023 Casa Julfa resident Alisha Sofia and founder Corinne Aivazian have collaborated to create a collection of terracotta vignettes made entirely from wild french clay and Armenian natural pigments.
Using ancestral techniques, the pieces have been moulded from antique Armenian portrait frames from personal family collections as well as those collected from Yerevan’s vernissage market over the years. They have been hand painted using egg tempera and natural pigments from different regions of Armenia: Dark red from Syunik, black from Lori, white travertine from Ararat, green from Tavush green and Mustard from Kotayk.
